VSO presents BLACKMAIL
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s first Back to the Movies performance of the 2024-2025 season. Played with live accompaniment by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra chamber ensemble. This 1929 thriller by Alfred Hitchcock follows the story of a young London woman who murders a man in an act of self-defense. In the days that follow, she is subjected to blackmail by a bystander of the event. Cited as the first British sound feature film, Blackmail became the first successful ‘talkie’ in Europe.
